Konami hosted its Konami: Press Start presentation this morning, kicking things off with the same Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer we saw during Summer Game Fest 2025.

But rather than it just being the same trailer to give the game another shot in the arm ahead of its August release, Konami also debuted a brand-new multiplayer mode for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, titled Fox Hunt.

Konami was very clear on the fact that Fox Hunt is not a repeat of Metal Gear Online. It’s a new, original multiplayer mode, and while this new mode shares a world with Metal Gear Solid Delta, the core gameplay is “completely different.”

Yu Sahara, director on the Fox Hunt mode, addressed the fact that there’s still a contingent of fans who’ve wanted Metal Gear Online to make a comeback, and while Sahara appreciates their love and enthusiasm for MGO, Konami’s new approach is informed by how the landscape of multiplayer games has changed since MGO was first released.

Sahara doesn’t go into too many details about Fox Hunt, though does say that this new mode will lean into the stealth mechanics in Metal Gear Solid and take hide-and-seek gameplay “to the next level.”

In a press release for everything that was featured during the presentation, Konami says that the new mode “broadens the franchise’s core stealth element where players must utilize their environments to camouflage and evade opposing players.”

We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out more specifics like how many players per round, what kind of game modes are available in Fox Hunt, will cross-play be supported, etc. But at least it shouldn’t be too much longer, since Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is due out on August 28, 2025.

A new original multiplayer mode wasn’t the only major bit of news we got from the presentation, as Konami also announced that after Bloober Team knocked it out of the park with Silent Hill 2, the studio has been given the reins to develop a remake of the first Silent Hill game.
