Resident Evil Requiem is finally here, and you can join the 159K people currently playing it on Steam at the time of this writing if you want to. From everything we’ve seen and heard since its release at the end of last week, it’s been a huge hit, and while thousands of players are still digging their way through it, plenty of players are already looking towards what’s next. Which, if the rumors are true, will be a Leon-focused DLC.
That’s at least what reliable Resident Evil leaker, Dusk Golem, is pointing towards. In an extended thread on X (formerly Twitter), Dusk Golem offers a bit of insight into what’ll be coming in the DLC. But that’s not all Dusk Golem has to share about Resident Evil today. They also provided a couple of claims regarding what’s coming down the pipeline for the series.
According to Dusk Golem, the long-rumoured Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake is the next RE game we’ll see, and it’ll arrive sometime in 2027. After that, the Resident Evil 0 Remake we’ve heard about is next on the docket, currently targeting 2028.
Then, we can probably expect the next mainline entry in the franchise, with Resident Evil 10 arriving sometime after the RE0 remake, to be followed by a remake of the first Resident Evil, which, according to Dusk Golem, has “just recently” entered production.
Now, even considering the fact that Dusk Golem’s reputation is better than most who claim to be ‘leakers’ and ‘insiders’ online, it’s always worth taking these kinds of things with an appropriate grain of salt.
So just keep that in mind with all of the big claims Dusk Golem makes here, especially because at a certain point, they admit to taking educated guesses based on what they’ve heard. Even if that’s just Dusk Golem covering their bases, it’s worth noting.
Getting back to what is set to arrive sooner than those rumoured remakes is the Resident Evil Requiem DLC, which Dusk Golem says is “late in development,” which, if we are getting DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, makes sense. The game is out, and on store shelves, if Capcom has any kind of additional content in the pipeline, it’s likely in its latter stages by now. And as Dusk Golem points out, save for a few exceptions, most Resident Evil games have some sort of DLC post-release.
The other major element to Dusk Golem’s claims, is that this will be a DLC that focuses on Leon S. Kennedy, one of the two protagonists in Resident Evil Requiem and arguably the most beloved character in the series.
“Previously I mentioned Alyssa, the reason for that is I’ve heard they have a fully playable version of her rigged up that I heard was likely not playable in the main game but being made for some DLC thing, no further context than that,” Dusk Golem begins. “However, more recently I’ve been hearing a few times in the grapevine now there’s likely a Leon DLC. I do not know the scope of RE9’s DLC outside of it existing, but I can take some educated guesses. [Koshi] Nakanishi said there would be stuff to keep people playing RE9 long after the main story.”
It’s altogether a lot to take in, and while we should, once again, only take it all with a grain of salt, one thing we can bet on is that with the success of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom surely won’t be letting up on the long-running horror franchise anytime soon. We’ll have plenty of zombie-killing fun to come for years, even if most of the projects claimed to be on their way are re-treads of games from a different era.
