Developer Redemption Road Games has announced that Kingmakers, its third-person shooting strategy game that sends you back in time to the medieval era with an assault rifle, will arrive on PC in early access on October 8, 2025.
When Kingmakers was first revealed in February 2024, it had a small viral moment with its admittedly hilarious announcement trailer, where you watch a pickup truck smash through legions of armored knights that can’t do anything but ragdoll against modern horsepower. Cut to watching a soldier firing shotgun shells into enemies chasing after him with swords, and Kingmakers immediately appeared to be a fun, chaotic time.
That moment helped Kingmakers reach more than a million wishlists on Steam, with excitement continuing to build since. It’ll be interesting to see how players react when they’re able to play it themselves at launch this coming October.
It’ll be launching as an early access game, of course, so we should expect that it won’t be perfect. But the core concept of being able to run through armies of knights with a gun or a tank looks like it’ll be a roaring good time, and hopefully, Kingmakers is able to make that key draw to the gameplay feel as good as it looks.
