After being cancelled by Riot Games and revived as an indie game again, Hytale is now set for an Early Access launch in January 2026. Pre-purchasing will open December 13th, with it going live January 13th.

No doubt many are excited about this since it had a lot of followers watching it in previous years, thanks to its blend of a sort-of Minecraft style but more of a proper RPG. So a bit like Minecraft and Skyrim combined you might say.

In a fresh announcement the developer makes it clear this will be a very real early access, not like a lot of the early access styled stuff we see on Steam where the game is nearly finished. This will be “very much unfinished and will be buggy for a while” and they expect the “first impression will be rough”. Still, it’s going to be nice to finally see it out, and with the creators actually in full control.
