Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream developers on making a game with 16 people: "We do these things not because they're easy, but because we thought they'd be easy"

Stylish stealth-puzzle game, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, just got a release date at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase and it’s coming really, really soon.

The release date is now set for July 15, 2025, so we’re just over a month away from being able to dive into its Scandinavian-inspired world.

That date dropped alongside some fresh developer commentary and a lovely new trailer that shows plenty of the stealth tactics at your disposal.

What’s especially impressive about Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is that it’s being made by just 16 people over at developer River End Games. On the topic of making such a visually impressive game with such a small team, Creative Director Anders Hejdenberg said “we do these things not because they’re easy, but because we thought they’d be easy”.

“River End Games was based on the idea that if you have the right mix of people then, perhaps, a really small team can make something that’s actually pretty cool.”

In Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream you play as three playable characters that you switch between. “They have their own special abilities that you need to use together to solve situations and puzzles in an interlaced way where everyone is involved,” explains Hejdenberg.

Whether it’s the impeccably details isometric view of the core gameplay, or the fully animated cutscenes with their impressive lighting, Eriksolm: The Stolen Dream looks set to be one of the new games of 2025 to keep an eye on.

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is due to drop at some point this year on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, so make sure to wishlist it now if it’s your jam.
