Crimson Desert Mod Gives Pywel 4 Live-Changing Seasons, As Pearl Abyss Stays Locked on Charting The Unknown

Published on:

Pearl Abyss made plenty of improvements to Crimson Desert since its launch this March, but modders haven’t been idle, and have introduced a lot of significant improvements and new features, including a massive world editor that turns the game into a real sandbox. As the Korean developer is continuing to work on the Charting The Unknown expansion, which will launch on October 29, another modder released a key mod that makes the entire experience way more immersive with stunning-looking seasons that change as you play and come with their own unique mechanics.

“Pywel gets four seasons. They follow the in-game calendar and change live while you play: no reloads, no picking mods, no game files changed on disk. Trees, grass and terrain change colour, winter brings snow and real cold, and the weather, the temperature and even deep snow follow the season,” reads the official description of Seasons of Pywel by Khione95 on Nexus Mods.

These new seasons are fully integrated into Crimson Desert, and change every 30 days, with the changes between seasons becoming visible within seconds. Besides changing how Pywel looks, going from the bright green leaves and grass of spring to the snow-filled landscapes of winter, each season also influences the game’s temperature system, forcing players to switch Kliff, Damiane and Oongka‘s armor depending on the temperature. Every season also has its unique weather, with snow in winter, and rare rain during summer.

While mods like Seasons of Pywel often feature only static cosmetic changes, it’s really impressive how the developer managed to integrate everything seamlessly, with minimal gameplay implications. It’s so well done that it wouldn’t be surprising to see its features eventually get officially integrated into the base Crimson Desert so that console players could also enjoy them.

However, as Pearl Abyss is hard at work on the expansion, we will likely have to wait a bit longer to see any significant change coming to one of the best open-world games of the current console generation.
