Assassin’s Creed Shadows Officially Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 This December

Published on:

After more than a year of rumours and reports about Assassin’s Creed Shadows coming to Nintendo Switch 2, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that yes, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 release, and it’ll arrive on the platform this coming December 2, 2025.

The news comes from a new fall roadmap update on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel, which not only confirmed the release date of the Switch 2 version, but laid out other new features coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the rest of the year, including an Advanced Parkour feature, and a few other key changes to the parkour system even without turning that Advanced Parkour toggle on.

There are also new free story quests coming and new Animus quests for players to dig into on the way.

We are delighted to bring Assassin’s Creed Shadows to Nintendo players,” added the game director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Charles Benoit. “Whether slipping through the shadows as Naoe or facing foes head-on as Yasuke, players will be able to roam the streets and rooftops of feudal Japan at home or anywhere their journey takes them on Nintendo Switch 2.”

While all of the free content updates featured in the roadmap video above will be available in the Switch 2 version when it arrives, the recent Claws of Awaji paid DLC expansion will not be included in the Switch 2 version of the game, and will be added at some point in 2026.

However, it will feature cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect, letting you pick up where you left off in Shadows on other platforms. Also, regarding the question that Switch 2 users almost certainly have, yes, the physical edition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is a game-key card version.

Since Ubisoft established its new Vantage Studios subsidiary to house the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises earlier this year, this is technically the first release in any of those franchises under Vantage Studios. Of course, most of the work was completed prior to the shift in structure, but Shadows on Switch 2 still counts as the first SKU Vantage Studios will launch.
