After the February State of Play kicked off this year’s round of showcases for PlayStation, it seems like we might be about to get our second State of Play event for the year as early as next week. That’s at least according to insider NateTheHate, who has previously accurately reported when events like this will take place, including the most recent event in February.

Initially, NateTheHate made a small comment about a PlayStation event happening “well beforeJune 2026, which would place it around Summer Game Fest 2026 time. Once users started to latch onto the idea that we’d have a State of Play sometime sooner than June 2026, NateTheHate decided to stop being vague and share the date he had heard for the event.

Which is apparently as early as next week on April 16, 2026. What’s interesting about that date, is that it is also the same day that we are rumored to get a full reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming remake of Assassin’s Creed IV.

It should be stressed, as NateTheHate does, that this information is not entirely confirmed. But having two seemingly separate rumors pop up in quick succession, both of which could likely be related to the same event, and it adds a lot more weight to the whole situation.

Add on top of that the comment from NateTheHate that it will likely be a “more third-party focused” event, and it’s starting to feel more like a ‘where there’s smoke there’s fire’ situation.

But again, take all of this with the necessary grain of salt, especially since we won’t know if these claims are true or not until the last minute. PlayStation almost never confirms these events early now, it’s always a day or two days before the event actually takes place.

So if there is a State of Play next Thursday, April 16, we probably won’t know until Tuesday, April 14, at the earliest.
