Ninja Gaiden 4 October Release Date Announced With New Trailer

Published on:

Ninja Gaiden 4, the new entry in the series announced earlier this year in development by Team NINJA and PlatinumGames, is launching on PC and consoles this October.

A new intense trailer shared during today’s Xbox Games Showcase confirmed the game will launch on October 21st on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. You can check out the new trailer below.

Shortly after the new Ninja Gaiden 4 trailer was released, a new post on the Xbox official website provided some new information on the game. The post detailed the very beginning of the game and how the new entry in the series will offer an evolved gameplay experience that will still be deeply connected to the series’ roots, as highlighted by the possibility for the new protagonist, Yakumo, to learn iconic special moves like Flying Swallow and Izuna Drop.

The release of Ninja Gaiden 4 was preceded this year by the launch of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remaster of the second entry in the series powered by Unreal Engine 5, which attempts, and mostly succeeds, in striking a balance between the original Xbox 360 release and the Sigma release. You can learn more about the game in my review.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black isn’t quite the definitive edition of Team NINJA’s second entry in the series, but it comes close. While Ryu Hayabusa no longer faces overwhelming hordes of enemies, the game’s intensity, deep combat mechanics, excellent enemy variety, greatly overhauled visuals, and solid level design make it one of the best ways to experience one of the finest action games ever released, performance issues notwithstanding.
