Terrifier: The ARTcade Game announces a demo for its bloody, retro beat em up action and it's live now

Published on:

If you’ve seen any of the Terrifier movies then you know it’s all about Art the murder clown doing gratuitously unspeakable things to anyone he comes across, with anything he comes across. It’s a tough sell for a game, which is why Terrifier: The ARTcade Game (shown off during FGS Live From Los Angeles) takes a retro co-op beat-em-up approach – it’s much easier to pummel someone’s face to mush with a spiked club in pixel art form.

Like the films, this retro fighting beat ’em up is packed with gore and dark humor, with gameplay heavily inspired by 80s and 90s arcade action. Playing as Art, or other characters from the series like Vicky or the Pale Girl, it’s up to you to battle your way through a range of locations which are all movies sets where a film about Art is being made. Obviously, Art isn’t there to help production, so it’s down to you to disrupt proceedings as brutally and as bloodily as possible.

To help you take on Hollywood and put it through the mincer, you’ll have a range of weapons like chainsaws, cleavers, clubs, as well as environmental objects, to fight with. You’ll also have an array of horrific attacks and finishers to end your enemies, because we all know much Art likes to leave an impression.

You can also fight with up to three friends, with the four of you taking on enemies, bosses, and a range of modes, in classic four player arcade action. There’s a story mode, wave based challenges, versus mode, time attacks, a boss rush, and more to keep all of you busy.

And you can get a taste of all this bloody mayhem right now, with a new demo on Steam and PS5 as we speak, with Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch on the way later.
